Samford University (Ida V. Moffett School of Nursing) The Ida V. Moffett School of Nursing was founded as a hospital diploma program in 1922. In 1955, it was the first program in Alabama accredited by the National League for Nursing [NLN]. The program transferred to Samford University in 1973 following a merger with Baptist Medical Centers to offer associate and baccalaureate degrees. Currently, the Ida V. Moffett School of Nursing offers programs that meet the requirements for the bachelor of science in nursing degree and the master of science in nursing degree.
