The Azusa Pacific School of Nursing encompasses a full spectrum of undergraduate and graduate programs that prepare nursing scholars for a lifetime of intellectual inquiry. With an APU nursing degree, graduates enter the health care field with a solid foundation in research, theory, clinical skills, and hands-on community service, setting them apart as leaders in their profession qualified to change the face of health care delivery. From bachelor’s, master’s degrees, and post-master’s credentials to personalized programs such as the LVN to RN, the RN to BSN, the articulated RN to MSN, and the Second Careers in Nursing (S.C.A.N.) Program, to the PhD in nursing, APU leads the way in solving for the nation’s nurse shortage by educating top nursing professionals and educators at every level.
MISSION STATEMENT
Consistent with the mission and purpose of the university, the School of Nursing is a Christian community of discipleship, scholarship, and practice. Its purpose is to advance the work of God in the world through nursing education, collaborative projects, church and community service that encourages those affiliated with the School of Nursing (whether faculty, staff, student, graduate, or colleague) to grow in faith and in the exercise of their gifts for service to God and humanity.
BACHELOR'S DEGREES
BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN NURSING The BSN integrates faith and ethics to train students as skilled and knowledgeable practitioners, qualifying them for public health certification following graduation. Nursing students receive professional accreditation and clinical practice for their freshman through senior years, and are eligible for public health certification following graduation.
LICENSED VOCATIONAL NURSE TO BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN NURSING Licensed vocational nurses are evaluated on an individual basis. Credit is given for general education courses that are transferable. The first-year nursing course, UNRS 105, is waived for currently licensed LVNs.
LICENSED VOCATIONAL NURSE TO REGISTERED NURSE 30-UNIT OPTION Licensed vocational nurses are evaluated on an individual basis. Credit is given for general education courses that are transferable. Students choosing this option are admitted as terminal nondegree students.
REGISTERD NURSE TO BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN NURSING Registered nurses from associate degree and diploma programs are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be currently licensed in the state of California.
