The faculty and staff will be your guides for the duration of your educational stay and are committed to making your nursing education a positive enriching experience. We are fully accredited by the Commission for Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and have three programs; traditional undergraduate baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN), non-traditional degree completion track for RN adult learners (RN-BSN track) and the master’s of science in nursing (MSN). The mission of the Department of Nursing is to provide Christian nursing education designed to prepare each graduate for a life of service to God and humanity. In this endeavor, students integrate faith and learning as they investigate concepts inherent in personal, professional and spiritual growth. Our graduates are prepared to enter the profession of nursing as contributing members of the discipline, to promote, maintain, and restore the health of clients in a variety of settings. The outcome characteristics of ONU nursing graduates are best exemplified in their ethical, moral and spiritual practice, commitment to life long learning, leadership, service to God and humanity, demonstrated in constructive changes around the world. Olivet’s nursing department is committed to preparing excellent and compassionate nursing graduates for a life of service to God and humanity. Local facilities provide outstanding clinical experiences in obstetrics, pediatrics, psychiatric, medical, surgical, critical care, and community health nursing. Formal leadership experience can be gained by serving as a Nursing Student in Action officer or representative. Students are encouraged to apply their nursing knowledge and seek service and leadership experiences in international ministry trips, local civic and service projects, church work, and campus ministries. If desired, students may participate in peer mentoring and may receive mentoring from local members of ONU’s Kappa Sigma chapter of Sigma Theta Tau international nursing honor society. Alumni of ONU’s nursing program are well-prepared to move into a beginning leadership role and/or to immediately pursue graduate education, and are currently serving around the world as representatives of Jesus Christ and Olivet.
