MISSION The mission of the College of Nursing and Allied Health at Nicholls State University is consistent with the mission statement and goals of the University. The mission of the College of Nursing and Allied Health is to prepare students to contribute to a global society and a diverse workforce as productive, responsible, and engaged citizens and as well-educated healthcare professionals to meet the healthcare needs of Louisiana and beyond. This is accomplished by continuously improving its teaching, research, and service in a personalized, culturally rich and dynamic learning environment that fosters faculty, staff, and student engagement. While the College promotes research and appropriate service, teaching is its primary mission. The College extends its mission beyond instruction by offering continuing education activities for healthcare professionals. The College is dedicated to continuous quality improvement through systematic assessment and evaluation of program outcomes, processes, and current and former students. STRATEGIC GOALS 2006-2010 In an effort to fulfill the College and University mission, the following strategic goals have been developed: 1. Increase opportunities for student access and success in nursing and allied health disciplines. 2. Ensure quality and accountability in all nursing and allied health programs. 3. Enhance nursing and allied health services to community and state. 4. Manage fiscal resources (related to nursing and allied health expenses). 5. Increase recognition and visibility of the College 6. Enhance sense of College community. 7. Promote a diverse College community to provide an enriched and challenging educational experience in the nursing and allied health disciplines. APPROVAL AND ACCREDITATION Within the College of Nursing and Allied Health, the Department of Nursing Associate of Science Nursing Program and the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program are approved by the Louisiana State Board of Nurses. Further, the Associate of Science Nursing Program is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission and the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Additionally, Nicholls State University College of Nursing and Allied Health is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. The Department of Allied Health Sciences and its associated programs are nationally accredited and certified by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care, the Cytotechnology Programs Review Committee of the American Society of Cytopathology, the National Health Career Association, the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education and the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education. |
