Waynesburg University (Waynesburg College - Nursing program) Waynesburg College offers the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. The program is fully approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and is accredited by the Commision on Collegiate Nursing Education. The purposes of the nursing program are:

* To provide the student with a science and humanities background and nursing theory to practice as a professional nurse,
* To graduate individuals who are eligible to take state licensing examinations, and
* To provide curriculum foundations for graduate education in nursing.

Nursing education at the baccalaureate level prepares a generalist who is capable of providing care to multi-cultural clients, experiencing diverse health concerns, in a variety of health care settings.

The Professional Nursing Program offers a curriculum sequence for students wishing to pursue a career in professional nursing. Additionally, curriculum sequences are provided for the Registered Nurse, the Licensed Practical Nurse, and those with non-nursing degrees interested in obtaining a baccalaureate degree in nursing.

THE ACCELERATED SECOND DEGREE BSN OPTION

Individuals with a degree from an accredited college or university may be eligible to enroll in the nursing program to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. This program is designed to allow second-degree students to complete degree requirements in 3 semesters and two summers. This traditional day program with classes meeting two-three times a week for 15 week semesters and daily through the summer sessions.

NURSING PROGRAM

The Waynesburg University Nursing Program, which leads to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree, can provide what you need in the way of personalized guidance and professional preparation.

Waynesburg University has offered the BSN degree since 1983. The nursing program is approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) through 2017. Graduates of the professional nursing program at Waynesburg University are prepared as generalists capable of providing care to multi-cultural clients, experiencing diverse health concerns, in a variety of health care settings.

Students interested in a career in professional nursing may complete the course requirements for a baccalaureate degree in four academic years. Students admitted to the university enter the freshman year as "Exploring Nursing" students and are admitted into the Department of Nursing as sophomore nursing majors when all the prerequisites have been met.

Licensed practical nurses (LPN's) are eligible for advanced placement in the Waynesburg University nursing program to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. It is possible to complete the program in a minimum of six semesters.

If you have a bachelor's degree and would like to change careers, consider the BSN as a Second Degree program. This accelerated program is designed to allow students to complete BSN degree requirements in three semesters and two summers.

The accelerated RN to BSN program allows a registered nurse to complete the BSN degree requirements in 18 months, attending evening classes one night a week. Classes in the RN to BSN program are structured around the cohort concept, so that students admitted at the same time begin and end their program together.
