West Liberty State College - Nursing Program
The School of Sciences is committed to providing a quality undergraduate educational experience to students seeking degrees or pre-professional programs offered by the departments within the School.
In terms of professional preparation, there are available both two-year curricula and four-year curricula. The pre-professional programs include Pre-Dentistry, Pre-Engineering, Pre-Medical, Pre-Occupational Therapy, Pre-Optomerty, Pre-Pharmacy, Pre-Physical Therapy, Pre-Speech Pathology and Audiology and Pre-Veterinary Medicine.
Bachelor of Science Degrees that can be earned at the end of four-year programs terminate with specialization in Biology, Chemistry, Dental Hygiene, Mathematics, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Nursing and Pre-professional Speech Pathology and Audiology.
West Liberty State College offers an CCNE* accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree for high school graduates and registered nurses. The program incorporates various educational opportunities to prepare students to be professional nurses. The highly qualified faculty, comprehensive curriculum and clinical learning experiences in dynamic health care agencies contribute to making this a high quality nursing program.
The mission of the Nursing program is “to launch professional nurses for caring practice in the community.” The goals of the program include: * Employ caring nursing interventions in nursing practice. * Employ critical thinking in making professional judgments and decisions. * Communicate effectively with others. * Demonstrate non-judgmental care for diverse cultures, values and lifestyles. * Grow and develop in the professional nursing roles of caregiver, care coordinator, advocate and member of the profession.
