The LCC Nursing Program is committed to providing excellence in nursing education.

The mission and philosophy of the Lower Columbia College Nursing Department is authored by the nursing faculty and is congruent with the philosophy and mission of the institution.

The program is committed to providing excellence in nursing education that encompasses holistic caring, respect for individuality and diversity, accountability and responsibility, critical thinking, and clinical expertise.

ASSOCIATE IN APPLIED SCIENCE DEGREE

The LCC Associate in Applied Science degree (AAS) prepares students to take the Registered Nurse licensure exam. Adding a few general education classes to the Associate’s degree, many LCC grads go on to earn their Bachelor of Science in Nursing. LCC’s highly-regarded nursing program is closely articulated with Washington State University Vancouver, where many students finish their BSN in just one year. LCC's program is approved by the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission and accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.

NURSING ASSISTANT

Students learn to help give basic nursing care to residents/clients under supervision of a licensed nurse. The state-approved eight-credit Nursing Assistant course (Nursing 090) prepares you for entry-level employment in healthcare.

It has no prerequisite and does not require admission to the Nursing Program. On the contrary, to be admitted to the LCC Nursing Program, you must have Washington or Oregon Certified Nursing Assistant certification.
