Ohio University (School of Nursing)
Ohio University offers a variety of successful programs. Associate Degree Nursing programs are offered at Chillicothe, Ironton and Zanesville. The RN-BSN program uses the interactive web approach to facilitate to Registered Nurses the completion of the required courses. The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program offers the nurse administrator and the nurse educator concentrations.
The thrust of all OU nursing programs is to enhance nurses’ cognitive abilities that will result in better clinical decision making skills. Skill in decision making often differentiates high quality patient care from mediocre or poor patient care. Today’s health care system is complex and nurses use a broad knowledge base and mastery of intervention skills to be able to deliver high quality, and fiscally responsible patient care. A nursing education translates to opportunities for rendering services to patients who are treated in multiple inpatient and community settings. In addition, the satisfaction of being able to provide care for patients translates to nurses’self-fulfillment.
